Catalina Island Jazz Festival

We haven't missed a year yet. 18 years and counting! this year was no exception. One of the 10 best islands in the world, Catalina is the best venue for a smooth jazz festival. 

Owned by the Wrigley family, in the twenties the island built a Grand Casino equip with movie theater and ballroom. 

The grand ballroom is were the concerts are held. With its Art Deco design, bandstand and dance floor to accommodate 5000 this is an event not to be missed.

Two bars and food service are available during the five concerts. Little has been changed or updated on the decor. Each visit is like a blast to the past. 

Downstairs a piano bar, gift shop and ladies and men's lounge. Friends and family from all over the country fly in every year to enjoy this two weekend event. An hour boat ride from the main land makes the trip extra fun.

Hooters (my wife) keeps a suite at the Hotel Metropole. Its the room we got engaged in. From our bed we can see the casino and all the boats in the harbor. 

For Lori the weekend is all about the music. For me its island life at its best. Music,Food, Shops and lounging on the rooftop spa. 


Our first date was here at the festival. Music food, family and friends make this annual trip to the Island our favorite trip of the year.
